ENABLE WINDOWS ZIP TOOL IN WINDOWS XP

ENABLE THE WINDOWS ZIP TOOL

Windows XP comes built in with a compression tool that reads ZIP files as folders. When you install Windows, you can open ZIP files using that tool. Then, say you install WinZip or WinRAR, and then uninstall it. You’ll then need to reenable the inbuilt ZIP file reader. To enable Windows ZIP files as a folder feature again, you can use a simple command. At a command prompt, enter

“regsvr32 %windir%\ system32\zipfldr.dll”.

Press [Enter].

  1. Once my friend told me story about his zip files. He couldn't restore theirs. Unfortunately yesterday I was in similar condition. I used the Google and noticed an interesting blog. To my surprise I found out - zip file fix there. It finished my problems quite easy and beautiful:)
