Erase a Re-writable CD

Erase a Re-writable CD in Windows XP without any Software
The built-in CDR features in Windows XP let users perform some quick CD burning tasks like erase a CD-RW or copy files/folders to CD-R without using any software. This page provide information how to erase a CD-RW without using any software in Windows XP. The erase function will perform either a quick erase or a full erase depending on the status of the CD. Once the CD is erased (or "formated"), you can copy files/folders to the CD either using a burning software or the burning feature in Windows XP.
  1. Insert a ReWritable CD disc into the CD drive.
  2. From Desktop, double-click on "My Computer".
  3. Double-click on the CD-Rom drive.
  4. On the window that displays the contents of the CD, click on the menu "Erase this CD-RW" on the left panel.

  5. On the window "CD Writing Wizard", click "Next".

  6. The "CD Writing Wizard" starts to erase the CD:

  7. Once the erasing completes, the wizard will disappear and the CD-Rom window shows no files on the CD. At this time, the CD-RW has been erased and can be used to copy new files and folders.
